No other country in the world imprisons so many of its racial or ethnic minorities. In many urban communities, three out of four young Black men can expect to serve time in prison. More African American adults are in prison of under correctional supervision, probation, or control than were enslaved in 1850 in the United States. In 2004, more African Americans were denied the right to vote due to felon disenfranchisement laws than in 1870 due to formal racial discrimination, poll taxes, and literacy tests. In jurisdictions across the United States, Black men are admitted to prison on drug charges at a rate ranging from twenty to fifty-seven times greater than white men. In 2006, one in every fourteen Black men was in prison, compared with one in every 106 white men. The systematic removal of Black men from their communities has produced such a significant gender gap that the difficulty many Black women face in finding life partners is a widely discussed phenomenon.
Thought experiment: If every U.S. citizen making $100K or less a year decided not to make political donations for one year (instead, we donate that money to shelters, Planned Parenthood, etc.), would the politicians notice (assuming we didn’t announce it in such a way that they would notice)?
If you’re protesting abortion, the Supreme Court says you can get right in women’s faces and scream at them on their way into the clinic. Because freedom of speech.
But if you try and protest the murder of a black man, you get tear gas fired at you.
A 24-year-old man has died after being shot by police during an encounter in the Florence neighborhood of South Los Angeles, officials said Tuesday.
The incident began at 8:12 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a shooting at the intersection of West 65th Street and South Broadway, said Lt. Ellis Imaizumi of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Eight minutes later, at 8:20 p.m., the officers stopped a man who was walking in the 200 block of 65th, authorities said.
“A struggle ensued” and police opened fire, according to a statement from the Police Department.
The man was transported to a hospital where he underwent surgery, according to Officer Sara Faden, spokeswoman for the LAPD. He later succumbed to his injuries. No officers were hurt in the incident.
It is unknown if the suspect has any gang affiliations, police said.
A woman who said she was the deceased man’s mother identified him as Ezell Ford.
Tritobia Ford said her son was lying on the ground and complying with the officers’ commands when he was shot.
Yet another one…It’s always a “struggle.” And why bring it up if it’s unknown. They know exactly what they’re insinuating. Be fearful of black people and not the police… This is insanity.
THIS WAS LAST NIGHT
A hit pop song is sweeping Central America, called “La Bestia.” It’s about a freight train that migrants often brave from South Mexico up to the US border, with the hopes of crossing - often illegally. People are kidnapped, raped, robbed, and murdered on the train. The song warns of the dangers of taking the train to illegally emigrate. Like most pop songs, it’s completely manufactured. Unlike most pop songs, it’s manufactured by the US government. More specifically, it’s part of US Customs and Border Protection’s Dangers Awareness Campaign, and it was commissioned to deter South Americans from making the trek to the US border. The Resident discusses how pop songs are all kind of “prop” songs in the end.

After two years, inquiry into FBI forensic testimony targets 45 capital convictions, with no results reported
If you had any trust in the U.S. jurisprudence system, why? Also, stop that right the fuck now.
If it wasn’t for the SCOTUS:
- Companies wouldn’t be people
- The VRA wouldn’t be overturned
- Abortion clinics would still have buffer zones
I could go on. You can go on if you want.
I want to send a “Shut your π hole” shirt to the asshole who trade marked “Π.” and made Zazzle take down all the shirts that had a π on it.
The shirts are back up but he’s still an ass.

Service matches publicly shared content against hashes of previously blocked files.
Yeaaaaah, considering how many designers keep legitimately licensed copyrighted material backed up on their Dropbox, this is going to be a bit of a problem.
Dropbox added that this comparison happens when a public link to your file is created, and that “we don’t look at the files in your private folders and are committed to keeping your stuff safe.” The company wouldn’t comment publicly on whether the same content-matching algorithm was run on files shared directly with other Dropbox users via the service’s account-to-account sharing functions, but the wording of the statement suggests that this system only applies to publicly shared links.
And I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn for an unbelievable price.
Most upsetting thing I’ve learned this semester: African Americans took thirty years to establish Seneca Village, NYC as an autonomous village with churches, homes, organizations where they could have freedom and exert political control. The village was destroyed by white backlash culminating in the creation of Central Park on that site to, which successfully erased it from the city’s history.
The fucking tears in my eyes right now.
Donald Andrews Jr. A Black man and Business Owner from New York was cleared just last April After being Arrested on Drug Charges in Scotia, New York. Police were “suspicious” of Donald Andrews Jr.’s store, which sells incense and smoking paraphernalia, and sent undercover informants several times in March. In one of the informants visits he is seen on Andrews hidden camera planting Crack Cocaine on the counter in Andrews Store.
Andrews was arrested in April 2013 and cleared only after he asked a Grand Jury to watch the surveillance footage from his store. The informant used a cellphone photo he took of the planted drugs as evidence that Andrews was dealing, leading to his arrest.
*YES THIS IS FUCKING REAL LOOK IT UP*
The police claim that the informant has now “fled” and they haven’t found his whereabouts. The sheriff “claims” his investigators didn’t purposely frame Andrews and have made the informant out to be some “rogue agent.”
FYI this same “informant” has lead to seven other drug-related arrests the Report says.
Sounds like a Movie right? But yall still out here calling people “conspiracy theorists”.
Andrews is now in the process of suing Scotia Police,

This is why we need to protect transwomen of color at all cost. All of these beautiful people where murdered this year, and they represent only the most public and brutal murders of transwomen all over the world. This is why cisphobia isn’t a real fucking thing, this is why I hate you because your cissexist transphobic actions lead to the deaths of beautiful and brilliant people.
